Review on Artaste Vertical Rabbit Lever Style Wine Opener with Foil Cutter by New Star Foodservice 48490 by Elizabeth Silva

Sometimes works

These bunny style corkscrews always spark mixed feelings - a bottle of wine can have a huge impact on whether or not you can pull the cork out with ease. I've tried them for a while and always come back to the screwpull style (simple, expensive, effective) or the standard waiters corkscrew. You'll need to learn how to hold the bottle properly and use the foil cutter that comes with it (if you can't just peel the foil off the glass). Place the device on the bottle, squeeze the handle, raise the lever, then lower it to allow the corkscrew to enter the bottle and raise it again - and hopefully the cork comes out clean. This worked for me on one bottle with a plastic stopper and another with a regular stopper; Nothing came up on another bottle with a normal cork. The bottle didn't strike me as odd (standard Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon), but several attempts failed, so I went back to the old-fashioned screwpull route and popped the cork out on the first try. The kit also includes an additional spare part of the rabbit "corkscrew"; There is no replacement manual. It's a huge and heavy device, and inside there are a lot of plastic parts, including a chunky plastic case. I'd recommend going for something smaller and simpler, or if you really need a bunny, go for one of the more expensive models with manufacturer recommendations and full warranties.
