These bowls are simple yet sophisticated. Probably the most sturdy and nicest bowls in my cupboard. To be honest, I am pretty frugal and utilitarian. Now I have something presentable for guest. The color looks good and the minor pattern differences between the 4 ceramic bowls indicates they are hand dipped and not machine sprayed (i.e. sophisticated). Washed the set with no issues in the dishwasher on the bottom rack with heated dry. They are heavier and solid, good for keeping them from being knocking over or a cat pushing off a counter.The description mentions it but it is worth noting, these are dinner bowls and not side dish bowls. They are larger and can hold a plate full of food, or a stew, soup, dinner salad, burrito bowl, pasta bowl, etc. For perspective, I have included one picture with a spoon, soup spoon, and dinner fork. They can be stacked 4 high in the cupboard for space saving.
