Review on Heininger Hitchmate TireStep 4040, Black – 1 Pack by Daniel Mandal

This is a sturdy and well made footrest that will help access the roof of your SUV. The price was right and the Revain seller is very responsive. One of the main concerns and why I gave it 4 stars and returned it is that it will NOT fit the 2020 Subaru Outback (Touring model although I guess the model doesn't matter). The footpeg would not clean the wheel arch and would not mount properly on the tire. I ended up ordering a Subaru approved stand, a Thule product. It's almost twice the price, but instead of using a rigid frame that attaches behind the tire, it uses nylon straps that can be easily cleaned and installed in the Subaru's wheel arch. I can't imagine this design being as durable as Heininger's rigid frame design, but if the latter doesn't fit it's of little use. I think the nylon struts can be replaced if they break from moisture and dirt.
