Review on Stanley FMHT16579 FATMAX Chisel Compass by Ryan Springer

Overall quality is not quite what I expected from Stanley. I have third generation Stanley tools that still work well. I doubt this tool will last that long. The gizmo that holds the pencil at the correct radius does not tighten enough to hold the included golf scoring card type pencil. After much fiddling and much profanity, I disassembled the mount and found a spare nut in my workshop. After replacing the broken factory nut with a quality compass it works perfectly. If I didn't have a workshop with a million nuts and bolts I would be returning this unit with a refund request. On the plus side, if a person needed to draw a really big circle, I believe the dowel rod could fit inside the joist to greatly extend its reach.
