Review on ๐Ÿ’ก High Efficiency 700W SFX Power Supply - SilverStone SX700-PT with 80 Plus Platinum Certification by Sean Castator

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Efficient and compact, but noisy and with robust cables.

Corsair SF750 was the power supply I was originally hoping to get but as it was sold out everywhere or ridiculously expensive due to low supply I bought this unit from Silverstone instead. Like all SFX and Platinum power supplies they are beautiful, compact and very efficient. So if you're looking for something purely functional to get the job done, fine. However, the fan on it is unbearably loud on my silent system. When I was setting up my system the other day, I thought my CPU or GPU fans were spinning up out of nowhere and it was driving me nuts. On a whim, I kept the PSU fan blades still when I turned on the system, and lo and behold, the computer went silent. I also placed the power supply in the NR200. It just fits perfectly, but because these cables are ridiculously stiff, the cable routing in this relatively roomy ITX case was completely PITA. I had to push hard, flex, and tighten the strap to keep things in place or in working position. Considering how reputable the Silverstone brand is, I had much higher expectations than what I ended up experiencing. In all likelihood I'll try to return it asap and see if I can snag an SF750 or even an SF600 somewhere. It's almost 2021, and for a company as popular as Silverstone, a 'basic' feature like running at 0 rpm should be provided.
