I read all the reviews then I went and bought Sony 35mm and 85mm lenses (SAM). Yes, they are cheap Chinese plastic and might not be on my list of things to do with my kids. Doesn't matter? The optics are excellent, the focusing is fast enough and the images are very sharp and rich in contrast. In my life I have had Leica, Hasselblad, Nikon, full frame Canon, Lumix (4:3), Linhof Technicas. . . .The list goes on. None of them can match the performance of this cheap lens. I'm also happy with the weight (another benefit of the poor build quality). The 35mm lens is my favorite lens and I've grown to love it. I use the 85mm for aerial photography at 20x30. So for those of you obsessed with build quality, think about it this way. Do you really want to spend (seven) times as much for a lens that is better designed but performs almost the same? Why not spend money on a trip and take great photos? that it is very compact. Mounted on the Sony A65, it's no larger than a small wide-angle lens, but offers a view of almost 130mm. Talk about stealth mode. For a fraction of the cost of a CZ lens, I can get past seven or eight of those if I need to and still come out on top. Excellent optics that will serve me well. It doesn't pretend to be anything else... it's sharp, light, small and cheap. use them say it will fall apart!
