Was so glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews. This has made life much better for the turtles. I fill a 10 gallon tank half full and use this filtration system. I used to have to clean his pool every other day, now I have a good week with only half cleanliness. The pump is a little intimidating at first, but the instructions are simple and everything was put together in no time. Be tired when disassembling to clean, I would suggest doing this at the sink. When you turn off the pump and remove the equipment from the tank, ie the hoses and the inlet, the reserve tank of the filtration system will be emptied if you do not hold the hoses over the pump. I've never had green hoses and the pump is so quiet. The hard plastic tub has holes through which the water flows into the tank, which is held in place by suction cups and clamps. I turned these holes towards the glass to reduce the sound of the water so now it flows silently into the tank. Don't lose the small plastic stopper when you first open the package, it is needed for the drip line to the tank. I hope this helps you decide.
