Review on DEWALT DWFP12231 Pneumatic 18 Gauge 2 Inch by David Monaco

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It's yellow like a lemon for a reason.

Bought to nail and tongue to some edge rows of bamboo where my 18 gauge nailer wouldn't fit and also to reattach baseboard moldings. Complete disappointment is the best description. For reference, I tried DeWalt nails, GripRite nails, and Porter Cable nails from 1 1/4 to 2 inches. Work at the recommended minimum pressure of 70psi and moderate tool pressure to keep work taut before nailing. a small hole in my work without a nail. Again and again. VERY DISAPPOINTED! When installing the baseboard with 2" nails, I found a bolt, hammered the nail in and found that the baseboard was not fitting snugly against the wall. Hmmm, must have missed the plug by a thread. Move to the right about half an inch, fire again and the basebar is still not solid. Damn, missed the stub again. God what the hell. I used to be pretty good at it. Move the first hole to the left about half an inch, I know I'll hit the pin this time. Shoot the nail, the base is not fixed yet. on the floor for a closer look and what I find are three neat holes in my painted pine baseboard and not a single nail in sight. Check out a nail magazine. Full of strips inside, the magazine was tightly closed, hmm. Close it, shoot it again, yes it's the fourth hole. MY GOD. THIS IS FINALLY THE NAIL BROKEN. Hooray for me! Seriously, you must be joking! There's nothing like extra work with 4 holes for 1 nail. I've ordered a replacement, let's see what happens to it.

Pros
  • Detachable scratch resistant nosepiece with tool storage
Cons
  • No power
