The fakes just don't do the same job for some reason.
Genuine Zen ceramic filters work well but the price is high enough to make the fake look attractive. Unfortunately, the latter do not completely filter the water in the filling tank; Even leaving it overnight still leaves a half to a full inch of water that hasn't been filtered into the holding tank. Given the cost of maintaining a Zen unit every 6 months and the hassle weekly, I'm willing to upgrade to an under sink filtration system.
