This is the best plastic straw replacement I have ever tried. The disposable options I've tried (paper, bamboo) didn't work very well, the glass is brittle (and relatively thick for strength, meaning the two I've tried either have too small a liquid passageway or a had too large a diameter). for a nice mouthfeel) and other metal straws I've tried (not sure if stainless steel or aluminum, none were telescoping) cool very quickly in a drink with ice (and one was too large in diameter to be handy) . This straw, as far as I can tell, has a mouth segment that is the same diameter as standard plastic straws, with a comparable fluid passage, so the size and suction pressure/flow rate appear correct. It doesn't conduct heat as well as other metal straws I've tried - I suspect the telescoping design interferes with heat transfer a bit where the segments break - so it's more convenient to use with iced drinks. It's definitely the most user-friendly I've tried - it still looks like metal, sure, but it's more like the plastic straws it replaces than the others I've tried. It feels sturdy although I didn't appreciate the durability. because I have not yet done anything that could harm him; The foldable design and hard shell mean I'm not likely to accidentally bend it with enough force to warp the metal, or accidentally put something heavy on it that might crush it, and the case protects it (and the brush) well in mine Bicycle. Bags (I'm sure the same goes for a bag, purse, etc.). It's a little harder to clean (and longer than a fixed-length straw), although a brush helps - you'll need to wash thoroughly both inside and out, especially after sugary drinks, as the segments will get sticky and difficult to move otherwise. When I use it in restaurants, I rinse it out in the bathroom after meals and then wash it off with soap and water when I get home, which has worked well. I don't recommend the telescoping design if you're the kind of person who leaves dishes out for a few days -- or even just a full day -- and then washes a bunch at a time rather than cleaning them right after use, because that's the case is straw works. best to clean immediately after use. When drying, I recommend folding the straw once and stretching it again to remove any residual water from the seams of the segments, which can then be wiped off with a dry towel before packing it back into its case. Although I certainly haven't tried every time. Straw I love this one and would recommend it unconditionally if that is the type of straw you are looking for. There are inevitable tradeoffs between things like materials and fixed length versus telescoping; This straw is an excellent model of its kind.
