First off, I bought this and only use this as a cold pack, so I can't comment on its use as a heating pad.I run a lot and like to ice my legs after particularly hard runs. In this past, I've only owned small ice packs I buy from CVS, so I came to amazon to look for something bigger. I decided to get this ice pack because of its low price. Also, it's much bigger than the ones I already own. I'm about 5'6 and it almost covers the top of my thigh. It seems to stay at a good, cold temp for about 30 minutes which is fine for me since I usually only ice for about 15-20min at a time.Additionally, I think the strap is great, but don't think it's necessarily a good reason to buy this ice pack. The strap easily fits around my leg and also fits around my mid-section. However, the strap is literally just a thick piece of felt with a velcro thingy stuck onto it. It's nothing professional and nothing you couldn't easily make yourself, but it works. The main reason I bought this ice pack is because it was the cheapest, large ice pack I could find on amazon. The strap was just a bonus.I think I will buy another one of these for my other leg. I have considered trying to buy an even bigger ice pack on amazon, but I'm not sure if it is worth spending another $15 or more. plus it would take up more freezer space. So I will probably get another one of these.
