Cool item strap is useless however, I use this for a bad shoulder and it works great. wish the strap was connected If left in the freezer for too long, the pad can become too stiff and uncomfortable to use!

I have used MANY heat pads and the price on this one is great. The product is good quality. It does cool down a bit faster than others (like an hour), but it is slightly thinner which is very flexible and comfortable. There is no smell. I bought another as a gift and am sure I will purchase more in the future.

As some of you may or may not know you are not supposed to ice for more than fifteen to thirty minutes. The Themalon Heat-Cold pad works great. I recently had back surgery and bought several brands of ice packs. This is one of the strongest and longest lasting designs I have seen even built better than the Cool Pack which an excellent prodcut. I have used this for my neck/shoulders, ribs, lower back, and breasts after breast reduction, all while reclineing. It gets nicely cold and lasts for a while unless it's over 80*F in the room. I have used it for a couple years now and it's still in great shape. I have not used the strap, so I have no feedback for that. Pad does not have a strong smell.

Several problems with this product:1) For a "large" heat pad and it is not that large, maybe about the size of a piece of looseleaf paper. I was expecting something big enough to reach from shoulder to shoulder and maybe halway down my back. No go, but ok I could have dealt with that. The pad is large and works fine, but the ribbon is made of a very, very cheap fabric with a line of velcro to fix it. It does not hold the pad at all, it's hard to place and it doesn't hold there, anyway. The picture shows a sturdy ribbon, what you get is a felt ribbon that looks like the fabric of a cheap fleece blanket, not sturdy at all.
