I am 70- years old so know there is some arthritis and muscle soreness in my hand as I play the guitar. These pads brought gradual noticeable improvement over time used for 15 minutes or so every night. I felt improvement every day. After professional therapy and searching the internet on possible helps for my condition this is the one that made a difference. My hand therapist stated that 'maybe' the heat promotes blood circulation which aids healing. I do think this is a strong possibility. I don't use these so much now, I got two as one for the front of the hand and one for the back is easier than trying to wrap just one around the hand. I did have to use super-glue to glue the two sides of the velcro strip that makes the wrap-around band stick. That was the only drawback - the velcro attachment strip comes apart as it is only glued together (the two sides sandwiched together) with a soft easy to separate rubber cement. All is good on the ease of use, heat retention and strong but soft construction of these pads. I did not use it cold but I imagine that it would still be useful as it is for heated comfort.
