Not safe for parrots: birds

The durability of this toy is ok - my parrot is busy with it. However, after my Senegal parrot started showing signs of possible exposure to toxins, I read about the dangers of zinc in galvanized metal (a major source of poison for pet parrots). So I tested metal hangers with hydrochloric acid (which reacts with zinc in galvanized metal by foaming). The results were positive - all metal used in this toy is toxic! I had to replace the included hardware with stainless steel. Make sure all metal used in your parrot toy is stainless steel! If not, replace or discard. I had no idea how many parrot toys are made out of galvanized metal! Be careful!
