Review on πŸ“± Cutting-edge AAB SPM K1 Wireless Smartphone Manometer: Streamlined Pressure Monitoring on the Go by Brian Whitmore

Great when application works

A colleague suggested this brand of tool to me for use in a small commercial HVAC service. I started with the ABM-200 Mass Air Flow Sensor and I really liked it so I tried that one too. Hardware is great for the price. Nothing fancy, just what you need for the job. The accessories work quite well. With magnet tube sockets you need to drill a very clean hole in the duct. Any burrs or bends will result in inaccuracies. Batteries last a long time. My main criticism of AAB tools in general is the app. When I got the ABM-200 it had its own dedicated app and it worked great apart from the occasional Bluetooth issue. Then when I got the SPM-100, I downloaded a new app that "works" with all of its tools. Feedback on the new app: * Pros: Built-in tests eliminate some of the guesswork or confusion for new techs. * Cons: - Connect devices: When I use the app for the first time each day, I have to open the app, then restart my phone and open the app again before a device connects. - Phone lock: when I do a test and my phone is locked during the test, the app freezes when I unlock it again. I keep losing the data I wanted to keep and have to keep reconnecting or restarting the app. - Save Results: The work function is so confusing that I gave up on it. The only practical way to save the results is to take a screenshot. You should drop this and go with the usual approach for this functionality. - Updates: Nothing has improved since I got this latest app. I would like to see a more active development and resolution of problems that everyone has. Get on board and support your customers with a product that works! The only reason I continue to use this device is that I can't justify the cost of another meter while going back to unplugged instruments. It works just enough for my needs and the price wasn't too high. I'll look at something much more expensive if I decide to replace it.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
