Review on πŸ”‹ Makita XFD11R1B: Powerful Lithium Ion Sub Compact Driver Drill for Precise and Efficient Tasks by Tone Hatton

Good compact drill suitable for screwdrivers

Good compact drill. Lots of power for the size. The speed ranges from very slow RPMs to 1500 RPMs. One of the reasons I bought this is the higher speed, most of which only run at 1200rpm. Drill better with smaller drill bits. Came with two new 2Ah batteries which have an LED indicator which is very handy to determine the battery charge. The case is good, you can squeeze in a second drill. Charger arrived, just what I needed - another LOL. I also have another drill as a basic tool so I have a battery pack for each drill. This was done to keep it in the shop rather than constantly hauling the equipment used for field work out of the truck. It's nice that the clamp doesn't go under the battery so the drill stands nicely with a 2Ah battery without tipping over. The only thing I noticed is that variable speed isn't actually variable. There have been dots close together. As you pull the trigger harder and harder to increase speed, you may hear it build up at each speed level, rather than gradually increasing. This does not affect normal operation in any way, it is just an observation.

Pros
  • Mechanically adjustable 2-speed gearbox (0-500 and 0-1,700 rpm) for a wide range of drilling, screwdriving and impact drilling
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
