This mount is strong and stable. The key to success is finding the center of balance for your particular conditioner. I laid the 2 x 4 on its side and balanced the conditioner on it. Mark the position with a pencil, transfer this mark to the window frame and you are ready to mount the bracket. the bracket accessories include three spacers in different sizes, which are suitable for different thicknesses of window frames. (Using these spacers allows the air conditioner to rest on the frame rather than the metal chassis of the air conditioner.) Adjusting the angle of the diagonal brace can be a little tricky, and the built-in bubble level will quickly clear up any doubts about which pre-drilled hole you should be using. The diagonal brace has a rubber support to keep it in place, but I would recommend securing the support with at least one screw (two pre-drilled holes are supplied).
