Don't screw it in too tight. It's not strong enough

I used one of these to screw under a faux wood kitchen cabinet to hang bananas. I can't screw it all the way in because part of the hook isn't strong enough and will snap off, exposing a few millimeters of the broken screw. I succeeded on the second try because I stopped screwing it in when it became very tight. The optics are anything but optimal: not only the hook is visible, but also about half of the screw. But it seems very strong and I expect it to hold bananas. This product may perform better when screwed into a softer material. Not exactly perfect, but functionally it will do what I want.
