The chemical smell is tanning and when fresh it is stronger but fades over time like a sofa or a saddle but this smell will always remain, when working with horses I am used to this smell and it bothers me Not. The skin is thick and durable, I don't know why people want their expensive pencil case to be flexible and flexible, I wish it was rigid for protection. The zippers also seem durable, I've only had them for a few weeks but they seem to last a long time. It's not quite flat on the corners, I don't care, I like it more from the rustic side, which is why that attracted me in the first place. Now the reason I decided to write a review. I bought this for my Dave Ramsey Simple Cheap Budget Wallet. And when I say cheap, I mean money, not quality. The value of genuine leather for the price I paid of $12.95 is amazing if I had a reason to buy more I would buy. I don't need a wallet with a whole bunch of dividers. I need a purse so I can use the small binder clips to separate my budget categories, store my grocery list, coupons, pens, etc. I use the front zip pocket for my debit and other cards, but you can use it for change as well. Other wallets made for the system were too expensive and complicated for me personally. I also wanted it to be simple and durable, and the fact that it's real leather just sweetens the deal for me. The company also included a small leather headphone cord holder which I use as often as a case, what a nice little bonus!
