Simple answer: The door seal is as advertised yes :) But do you need it? Maybe, but probably not. And it's so difficult to install. If you're buying this to replace an existing part because it's moldy and smelly, the replacement won't fix the problem. Unfortunately. My front loading washing machine is about 7-8 years old. We just installed a new part yesterday and the old one smelled but was completely intact and working. I cleaned the inside where the diaphragm was before installing the new one. The new thing is on and the washing machine still stinks. I think the solution is to eventually replace the top loading washing machine. It is IMPOSSIBLE that the membrane on the front loader is moldy and everything stinks. The installation is no joke either. Took a few hours and was a HUGE pain in the ass.
