I would not use these bottles to make homemade carbonated drinks that involve fermentation and need to be opened to relieve pressure. I make ginger beer and used four of these bottles for one batch. For the most part I had no problems, but today one opened very abruptly and part of the top part broke off and got between my eyes. I've done this process many times and haven't had any problems so far. That being said, these bottles are great for things that don't require pressurization. I use them for simple syrups and other mixes for my home bar and they seal perfectly and never leak.
