Review on LWINGFLYER Coconut Bird House: 5-inch Cage Nesting Box for Pet Parrots - Toy Seed Feeder with Smooth Surface by Bethany Ray

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Small and non-drip

The product photos show a coconut nest hanging outside and it looks much larger than what I received (a parrot landing on it) but I think these photos are deceiving. I ordered this because I have a couple of mockingbirds that nest in my front hedges and trees and I was curious if they would use this. Based on the product photos I figured the nest would be big enough to hold a large bird (like the parrot pictured). The coconut I received may be parrot friendly but definitely not parrot friendly. I'm not sure if it's big enough, even for a mockingbird. Still, I put it outside just to fill it up with water during a rainstorm. Maybe the coconut will absorb rainwater over time, but what bothered me was that the water just stayed there (that can't be good for eggs, can it?). I asked my husband to drill a hole in the bottom of the coconut which helped with drainage. It's still early days, and so far not a single mockingbird (or any bird) has shown any interest in her. I'll update my post when they do.

Pros
  • Hole diameter: 6cm/2.4in, Coconut shell diameter: 13cm/5.1in Ideal empty space for placing treats and bird seeds. A fun hiding spot for your pet where they can nest and climb back and forth.
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly
