I used these skewers to replace the black plastic center on my Kapoosh knife block. I had trouble getting my knives to slide easily into the block due to the black threads knotting and twisting. Often part of the blade of the larger knife was still open enough to cut someone who was reaching for one of the other knives. At 8 inches, they don't reach the top of the block, but the difference isn't that big. I used 1900 skewers to completely fill the block, which was enough to hold small knives in place, and large knives easily slid to the knife handle and covered the entire blade. I am very happy with the results!.
