This is a great tool!

My apartment is connected to the internet in several rooms but it just doesn't work. I suspected I either had a bad wire in the mix or the connector wiring was clogged with a hose. So I took this tool to find out what the problem is. More on that in a minute. The device comes with a transceiver (one unit), a smaller receiver, two patch cords and a 9V battery. If you just want to quickly test the cable, you can just use the main unit, connect one end to the output, the other to the input and turn it on. It loops through all 8 wires and then repeats until you turn it off. This is very important if you want to put the transmitter in one place and use the small receiver in another. It has slow and high speed. You can also test the cable by plugging one end into the main unit's output and the other end into a small receiver. Same principle - the lights will flash in sequence from 1 to 8, and you can be sure that the receiver's lights will light up in the same order. The patch coordinates are used when you want to test the network connection. You plug the cable into the transmitter and then into the jack. In the same way, you can use a different patch coordinate on the other end of the connector. Dead easy. So back to my problem. When using this device I noticed that the wiring in my plug has 2 wires crossed and one wire is disconnected. I opened the socket, swapped the wires, plugged in another and everything was fine! Now I have direct internet access throughout my apartment without WLAN. This is essential for streaming video from my DVR and works great. I am very happy that I ordered this device. My problem was solved within 10 minutes. Definitely an indispensable tool in the kit.
