Review on 🔋 DieHard 71219 Smart Battery Charger and Maintainer - 6/12V Shelf with 2A by John Springer

***** Just a note on how I rate a product: If it meets my expectations as described by the seller and the buyer's feedback, then if it's below expectations it gets 3 stars 1 or 2 stars, if it exceeds expectations then 4 or 5 stars. I do NOT give 5 stars just because something arrives on time and undamaged like some people do. ***** Based on the reviews I was expecting more Chinese junk. Luckily I was pleasantly satisfied. This is a nice little device to keep my Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a slow drain somewhere fully charged for me! All connections were tight and it definitely works as advertised! Here it deserves 5 stars! Unfortunately, there are a few things that disappointed me and lowered my rating: 1) All of the quick release "straps" are very short. I can't get part of the ring connector through the grille as I want. 2) The clips are too small to fit the wire clips/battery trays of an old "American made car" design. I couldn't use them even if I wanted to. Glad I don't want that. until my lawnmower battery needs to be charged. 3) The ring terminals are also too small! I had to drill them out to fit the standard 5/16 or 3/8 bolts on the ports. But no problem. So I just ran to the hardware store and bought an 18 inch quick connect cord extension. After some work with my ring drill and some zip ties I can now just drive. into the garage and plug my "animal" into my wonderful little charger through the cord sticking out of the grill! I am very happy! So I end up giving it a respectable 4-star rating! Now all I have to remember is not to leave with the charger connected!LOLNOTES: I think most of the negative reviews on this product are due to buyers not understanding how batteries and/or chargers work: A) When the battery doesn't work charge them up (ie really dead: due to lack of acid or lead) They can be plugged into any charger until the Great Salt Lake freezes over and charge them up. Batteries do not live forever and cannot be revived. Time for a new battery! B) This particular device is unlikely to "kill" your battery (especially if it's already roasted). Only time can do this for you as this device only runs on 2 amps. C) There are several types of "chargers": (i) fast chargers (high current over 8 amps), (ii) standard/custom chargers. Jump start chargers (6-8 amps) that take a few hours, (iii) trickle chargers (1 or 2 amps) that take many, many hours, (iv) maintenance devices that turn off when fully charged and the Low current charging when less than full charge is detected. This device is a "drip" and "service" charger and will NOT work like the other types.
