This turtleneck sweater was perfect for my husband as a base layer. He wears thermals all winter to avoid wearing heavy jackets when working outside (and also because he thinks my house is too cold). This turtleneck is a very good base layer as it is not too bulky and shirts etc can easily be worn over it. The fact that it's a turtleneck also keeps the neck warm and I think it looks great wearing a turtleneck with a sweater over it. So it's "wife-approved" for looks. It also washes well and does not shrink like some cotton pads are known to do.
