Great product but the padding is a challenge. Please Read

I feel very comfortable. I have worked for 40 years as a locksmith, electrician and finally as a research engineer. Still going strong. I also do carpentry and plumbing. I think it's important to understand the customer's capabilities in relation to these self-installed products. You can compare your options with mine and my comments. I have to say it wasn't easy for some strange reasons, but I successfully installed them on a 2016 Mazda CX5 --- I can offer some advice here. Find and watch any YouTube. Seat heater installation video. You will thank me for that. Each video shows a specific type of location or issue that you need to be aware of. They are PRICELESS - don't miss out! Disconnect the battery! Many seats now have side airbags, activating one if your head is close can kill you. This is no joke! The main connector for the seat and airbag sensors didn't come off after unscrewing the seat, so I had to install them without removing the seat from the car - I was able to move the seat, the power cord was long. enough to place it on the front edge with the seat back over the steering wheel to get under. As it turns out, I had to reconnect the battery about 20 times to power the seat mechanism - Grrrr. This seat is 100% electric > so if I took it out of the car I would get stuck. You MUST raise and lower the seatback several times to get the seat cover through the gap between the seat and the backrest. If you've fitted or repaired upholstery in the past, you know what hog rings are. I've never seen her before. These molded metal rings hold the plastic strips attached to the back of the seat cover in slots in the foam seats. To do this, thin metal rods are built into the seats. These rings must be removed to install the heating pads and then carefully reinserted into the slots on and around the heating pad. The tool they provide and the "pig spare rings" are absolute rubbish. Throw them away when you open the packaging. The ties that come with it are rubbish too. Purchase or request about 40 6-8 inch industrial grade ties from an engineer friend. You don't need length, but you do need the width of longer ties for durability. there were some with a tiny metal bar in them - insanely strong. Use these in place of the pork rings you take off, tighten and trim short and they work GREAT. Use some to tie the wires as well. I routed the cable under the gap under the seat, under and through the apron on the center console, and under the dash. Buy a piece of fuse cake for the type of fuse you have and use the meter to find the group of fuses that provide power unplug the ignition key or you'll kill the battery if you leave the heater on. These pads draw about 7 amps in Hi mode, so it doesn't take long to drain a good battery with the engine off. The upholstery work was the hardest part. ) tricks they use to keep the fabric in place. I want to remember these. I had a bit of trouble closing the seat back because I didn't take THIS photo. Job done, heaters work great and power switch is on the dash. It came out very clean, even the creases in the seats are sharp (I replaced ALL the pig rings). I'm very happy with the results, but it took me almost a full day to complete - for a beginner upholsterer. Very satisfied. The UPDATE is October 2021 and the seat heaters STILL WORK!
