Review on Brilliant Bee Premium 72-Count Colored Pencils 🎨 for Adults with Oil-Based Pigments and Sturdy Metal Case by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent price although experienced performers might prefer other brands.

I was looking for another brand because the first oil-based colored pencils went up in price. I found them, saw that it was the money I originally spent and decided to give it a try. A few things to note: None of the pens are labeled, so choose colors based solely on the color of the pen itself and the tip you can see. Not easy when trying to compare colors and shades, it's very easy to get confused. I like that the trays slide out easily and are easy to put back in. The pencils themselves can either be sharpened or look like they tried to sharpen but gave up. Also, none of the ones I've tried sharpening myself fit the sharpener properly - meaning whatever they used to sharpen originally will need to either be replaced or better calibrated. I shouldn't break the lead because the pencil literally doesn't fit the sharpener properly. That mistake alone is worth a precious pencil color and I'm sure every artist would want to use it. They're not bad, but it might be worth spending a few more bucks to get the little details right - properly sharpened, marked, consistent. Overall I won't be returning them but I think another set will be gone, before I rely on this set. A separate note that's worth mentioning: the metal body is really impressive. If nothing else, then as soon as the pens are used up, I leave this suitcase. It's just damn good.

Pros
  • Soft Core 3.0mm. Soft cores are ideal for blending, layering and blending.
Cons
  • I'll write later

Good value but inconsistent quality and less variety than you think
