Review on Kryptonite Incite X6 Front Light by John Snook

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great idea, so-so execution

As the days get shorter our late night rides need some decent lighting. I was drawn to the StVZO modeling headlight because I no longer want to be part of the problem of my headlights dazzling oncoming drivers. I chose this Incite X6 as it was pretty much a real StVZO headlight which is a rebranded Trelock (Germany) headlight. I decided to take a chance and pay $79.95 to get my hands on it. got it wrong and messed up the whole experience up to this point of writing. Slap one: I opted for a one day delivery which was sent on Monday which resulted in the package being delivered on Saturday. Second blow: When I picked up a nice pack of Revain from my local Revain, I found the Kryptonite headlight pack itself chipped and damaged - to my dismay. The diffuser is scratched and the headlight housing is badly worn. It looks like someone kicked this light before sending it out. Strike three: This headlight is damaged and not working. I did my best to help him when in doubt - a chance to win. The headlight pivot screw will not tighten (broken threads?) and I had to hold the headlight steady while driving in the dark. 60 lux is not enough for night cycling and the radiation pattern is too narrow. It's almost a tunnel light because the side lighting is poor. Basically, I like this idea. The best light might be the Incite X8, but the price is too high - the price of doing the right thing and being considerate of other people's eyes isn't good for my wallet. With great regret - I will return it.

Pros
  • Charger Type: USB
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
