Review on πŸ”§ Corsair Apple Certified 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory 1.35V: Boost Your Apple Laptop's Performance with Reliable Memory Upgrade by Vedprakash Trilltight

I would advise you to just go with 8GB, 16GB is not noticeably better.

Best and most popular brand of Mac memory. It's as simple as "plug and push" - the easiest and fastest performance upgrade for your Mac. You don't have to do anything after installation, just turn on the laptop and it will take care of itself behind the scenes. Straight. My only complaint is that there isn't a noticeable difference in performance between the 8GB and 16GB that I can detect. While it's fun to install more RAM than my 2011 MBP it was designed for and still works great, it's actually not any faster or more efficient than the 8GB I installed previously. If you're upgrading for the first time, I'd suggest just buying 8GB and stopping with that, especially if it's half the price of 16GB. YOU WILL NOT GET double the speed with 16GB compared to 8GB. Otherwise, if you have the cash and just want to get the best bang for your buck, go for it, it's a very easy upgrade and storage is now way more affordable than ever. If you want to maximize it. Also consider buying a non-professional Samsung 500GB SSD (another easy upgrade), installing a Mac fan controller and maybe buying a new Aaweal battery while you're at it, well, a cooler repair, all of those Things will pimp your MBP to the max!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models
