This strap has enough (not much) strength to absorb the impact if it starts chasing something (which, fortunately, it rarely does now.) "End shock" when tapped briefly feels a lot better in mine Hand on (and I'm sure on his neck) than the sudden stop shock of using the original no preload harness. What I love about this harness is that when my dog is ready to go in it has enough time, to put that piece of leash in his mouth to take me home (the leash) when he touches it and chews it. But this tether has withstood up to 16 months of such treatment with minor damage and is still working.
