The engine stopped working and caused a lot of tears!

I have a set of gears, gears, gears in a bucket. The engine only lasted about 30 minutes on the dizzying fun floor, then it started bouncing and misbehaving. This was a great disappointment for my grandchildren, accompanied by tears! So it is better to take sets without motors. You can still have fun with a basic set.

Funny but painfully good for construction toys

Very fun and very cute when put together but there's no way my kids would be able to do it on their own. I put it together for her and it hasn't fallen apart since because I really don't want to do it again. The motor part is also a bit finicky and it ONLY needs to be properly aligned for it to work. That's a shame, because if these were bigger pieces that could be more easily plugged into other Gears builds, I might see my kids using them more. Instead it has become a separate toy, but with…

Great company, not a very good product.

Our son loves collecting and using these toys but the supplied motor burned out on first use (as others have pointed out). The company's customer service is excellent. A simple email immediately brought back a response from a real person who understood our issue and was personable. They immediately sent us the spare part free of charge. Although the toy may have some temporary flaws, the overall experience is positive due to the company's willingness to help.

Great toy for your little engineer!

My little engineer loves amusement parks. So this toy is just fantastic! It's so easy to use that my 2 year old loves playing with it too! The only downside is that it requires a lot of parenting and I was hoping my 5 year old could handle it. But it's still a bit advanced! Once we spend half an hour building it, which is amazing, it has to stay for a while to justify the effort! I will keep buying gears gears, I think my son will like the whole line! Great toy but be prepared that it's more…

Instructions could be better

Although the age range for this set is older my 4 year old grandson loves it. I really need to help him follow the directions a bit (and honestly I'm having a hard time following them). As with other Gears! Transmission! Transmission! The sets we have have motorized controls to turn the wheels. My only complaint and reason for only 4 stars is the instructions. It is very difficult to determine where some of the basic pieces need to fit together and we have yet to put it all together. It would…

The gears get stuck all the time and I'm sure it's terrible for the motor

For a 5.5 year old it's a bit difficult to assemble. And some of the details have an orientation that is difficult for younger children to see from directions. The motorized part of the set (3/4 components) doesn't work very well. The gears get stuck all the time and I'm sure it's terrible for the engine. I keep fumbling with the gears to get a tighter fit. Horses on the carousel sometimes get stuck at the top. With any luck we can start the engine for 10 seconds I would choose Techno Gears…

Cons
  • The packaging is ugly

This item was bought for my son for Christmas and it was assembled with no problems. There are two buttons on the remote and after 30 minutes the first button stopped working and we couldn't turn the engine off. This let the motor run for about 5 minutes before we could remove the batteries. At this point, the smell coming from the engine itself was terrible. When I returned to the toy a few hours later none of the buttons on the remote worked so we advised my son to play with something else as

Poor design or manufacture

My son (almost 4 years old) loves the Gears, Gears, Gears toy line. He cannot build this set himself as intended; but he likes to create simpler structures. He loves the fact that this set has cars (bumper cars). The problem we have with this set is that the roller coaster doesn't work. The coaster car is too wide for the coaster or the coaster is too narrow. I called the manufacturer and they sent me a new machine. The new one didn't fit. The manufacturer said they would send a new chain if…
