Review on 🍚 Inomata Japanese Rice Washing Bowl: Efficient Side and Bottom Drainers for Clear Results by Peter Green

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A simple tool, quick and easy to use

My seller rating (separate) was not very good. This review is for the product itself, not my experience with the seller. The item arrived in a brown paper envelope and although it was well made it was cracked and torn into pieces. I sent it back, they gave me a full refund so that was good. But I still wanted it and found it in a shop in town (I had to go around 4 different shops - I'm glad I had those options but it wasn't easy to find - there was only one left in the shop where he was (and he was IN ANYWAY, it works great. When I was in Japan, reading about Japanese food and talking to Japanese friends, I learned how to wash rice (you can google it - kind of interesting). I never knew what it is "thing" Sounds confusing but it isn't Even the highest quality rice still contains some impurities due to the way it is grown and harvested You put the rice in this sieve and fill it with water Stir Turn the rice around a couple of times (I use a wooden spoon and try not to damage the rice) and the water starts to get cloudy. You drain it and then do it maybe 2 more times. The 3rd time the water looks pretty clear from as oh it's ok Now I always do this with rice, the only advice is that it cuts down on the time it takes. I decided to actually cook the rice because it started soaking up water while you were rinsing it, so you have to get into a new rhythm with that . (Conventional filters are not suitable due to the small size of the rice grains.)

Pros
  • Rice bowls
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
