Review on Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm ๐Ÿ“ท f/1.8G Lens: Exceptional Image Quality and Versatility by Faun Su แ Œ

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best thing for the money, glad I did it.

was taken in addition to the 18-55 kit, but 50mm immediately became the main one, the whale is now lying idle in the case. The quality of 50mm shots is an order of magnitude higher: Iโ€™d rather climb the wall so that everything fits into the frame than Iโ€™ll fasten a whale. For those who write that the focus is not tenacious or there is little sharpness at 1.8 - I advise you to master the aperture priority mode, vary the depth of field. Itโ€™s better not to shoot on a machine with this lens - itโ€™s not the right tool. The lens is really sharp already from 1.8, it's just that in this case the depth of field is very small, and the sharp part of the picture is hardly noticeable against the general background. There was a choice between 35mm and this, but 35mm was (fortunately) out of stock. I took 50mm - and I do not regret it. Take it and don't hesitate!

Pros
  • Aperture 1.8, 50 mm on the crop, tenacious autofocus, sharp already from 1.8, lens hood and case included, metal mount, very compact, when focusing, the lens and the focus ring do not rotate, it is possible to fine-tune the focus by hand in the "m / a" mode, the distance scale is hidden under the glass in the window, the rubber seal on the bayonet, the N3100 looks more solid with it, especially with the lens hood;
Cons
  • not a clear switch "m-m / a", learn to climb walls;
