Exceeded expectations:

Update after six weeks of daily use January 2021: This was a great purchase for me. It initially took me about 15 minutes to learn how to drive with both hands on the wheel. I started out skating for 15 minutes twice a day, and now I'm closer to 20 minutes twice a day. I ride with a table on my left and had to reach for the table a few times during each workout for the first week to keep my balance. Simply place your hand on the table to gently regain balance and directional control. After a couple of weeks I was able to ride the full 15 minutes in 2nd gear (3 speed bike) without losing my balance or grabbing my desk. It took about a week before I could reliably get into 1st gear. Low gears require a better sense of balance, but this develops over time and practice. Now, at six weeks, I can get up and run multiple times during each workout, shifting gears. I'm really surprised at how much it improved my cadence and balance. Original Review Nov 2020: I am 62 years old and bought a Priority Classic 3 speed belt drive carbon fiber bike with internal rear hub. This bike is not compatible with standard exercise bike carriers. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos about the Tacx Galaxia and was a little concerned I wouldn't hurt myself. The truth is that unless you go into full panic mode, you're not actually going to fall off Galaxia. In the beginning, you accidentally drive the front wheel off the front roller. If you just stop peddling, everything will stop immediately. Since there is no forward motion (the bike stands still while you pedal), there is no forward momentum to knock you down. I placed the Glaxia next to a workbench in my garage. It's very easy to get started, just place a hand on the bench and start trading. As you can see from the videos, the initial tendency is simply to oversteer and swerve to one side or the other. It takes time to develop finer muscle control for steering (very little steering effort is required). If you give it a few days your fine muscle control, cadence and balance will improve dramatically. I am a regular cyclist but with a little effort and practice I really enjoy the Glaxia. It takes a lot of mental focus at first, but the longer you drive, the more natural it becomes. You tend to be tense at first, which tires you out and limits the length of your rides. If you relax, the travel time will increase significantly. When you concentrate on driving, time seems to fly by. Glaxia offers a good workout. In 3rd gear I'm in 2nd gear most of the time. Since there is no inertial motion, there is no rest. You have to keep pedaling to keep your balance. I started riding in 3rd gear (sprint) while standing on the pedals. It's only 4 days later. I can go to 1st to get some rest, but it's a little harder for me to keep my balance. My balance in 1st gear improves with practice. Glaxia likes rockers versus a base unit without rockers. I was afraid that rockers would make it more difficult, but that's not the point. The rockers seem to smooth out any jerks a rider might experience during the learning process. Glaxia was packaged very well. The three rollers are identical with high quality sealed bearings. The whole rig is well designed, extremely simple, compact, easy to assemble and made with quality and precision. It should also be noted that the device is relatively quiet. I am very happy with this purchase.
