I bought these to replace my 20 year old Garrard speakers which have served me well. The Garrards were impressive in their size and would be difficult to follow. While they're not as bright, they're smooth, with a bit more bass (still using the subwoofer to fill out the bass). I hesitated between them and the Klipsch R-14M speakers. It would have been nice to have them side by side for comparison, but judging by the specs and price they looked like a good buy. After listening to them for about a week, I'm satisfied. For computer speakers, this is just right. If they last 20 years, I'll be thrilled. At 100W RMS and 200W peak power, they're pretty serious speakers, not cheap Walmart speakers. The suitcases are quite heavy, well cushioned and don't make any noise. I haven't actually opened them yet. They're hooked up to a 40W RMS amp so they end up showing me what they're worth. I let her intervene gently. I'm listening to Led Zeppelin Celebration Day as I write this with a smile on my face.
