🦃 ROKR Thanksgiving Mechanical Educational Engineering Kit Review

We bought this for our 17 year old son. We weren't sure if it would be age appropriate considering he's almost an adult. We were pleasantly surprised! He was so passionate about putting it together and making sure it worked! I highly recommend it for children aged 12+. We'll look for another one.

Bought this for my teenage daughter. She struggled with two parts that she said weren't cut quite right, but she managed to fix them, fully assemble them and get them working! She takes great pride in her achievement and enjoys watching the balls being picked up and worked all over the course :) Also, it's much quieter than the building competitions she competed in as a kid.

I have a 13 year old boy with an engineering mind who spent his whole life putting this together after opening it on Christmas morning. It must have taken me 4-5 hours to assemble. He found the instructions clear and used wax and sandpaper to fine tune the parts. At the end of the night he could easily spin all the balls in this cool parkour. He decided he could attach a motor tomorrow. Mom for the win! I will definitely be buying more of these sets from ROKR in the future!

Putting this kit together is one thing, making it work is another. The structure is well thought out. It has been combined with a notch-like design. Trying to get it to work without the balls falling out proved to be a problem, as connections would loosen when trying to tilt or tip the ramps properly. Very difficult to assemble which makes it not work properly once assembled. You could really learn from LEGO via instructions. I'm an engineer and I've spent most of my career following instructions. After carefully inspecting the finished product, we discovered that one of the main parts was upside down and needed to be disassembled to fix the problem. This puzzle is made of strong but thin plywood. The details are solid and well carved. You must be careful when stamping parts as some parts have small parts that you can damage if you don't remember what you are doing. The result is a very complex Rube Goldberg type marble walkway. I bought this on a whim as I thought it would be fun to show my 3 year old great grandson when he comes to visit next month. I've worked with both wooden and plastic models, so I figured it wouldn't be difficult to put them together. All parts are made from stamped or laser cut sheet metal, very precisely cut and none are cracked or broken. Very nice set and a great talking point once complete. It was easy to assemble. The parts are nicely arranged and can be easily removed from the backing plates. You should have some basic modeling tools at hand, but really everything you need is included. Use the included sandpaper to sand the connection points (very small areas where parts attach to the backing plate). These dots are small, but they still need to be sanded down to ease movement.
