Extremely important tool for Type 1 Diabetes management

Our 6 year old granddaughter has just been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I did a lot of research on the internet and chose this scale as the most useful tool to help her and her parents deal with diabetes. There are many gram weights on the market, but this one goes even further, listing 999 popular American foods in a database with carbohydrate, calorie, and fiber values for each food's weight. You can then add this food measurement to the calculator's memory. This allows you to measure each meal in a meal by adding each measured meal to the calculator and when you're done, press the equal button and get an overall view of the information for the entire meal. This eliminates the subjective guessing that is entirely required when attempting to determine the size of each portion by making subjective guesses about small, medium, large or whatever else you would do without this scale. The instructions are very easy to understand and the scales are very easy to use. There's also a mode where you can enter information on a prepackaged food label, weigh that food, and get the correct portion size information for carbs, calories, and fiber. Our 6 year old granddaughter is already using it to weigh food and snacks. She shares the numbers with her parents, and they use the scale and blood glucose readings to determine their insulin dose. We are very happy that she is taking responsibility for her diabetes and that her parents are watching everything she does.
