Review on πŸ“ Dahle 508 Personal Rotary Trimmer: 18-Inch Cut Length, Self-Sharpening Blade, 5-Sheet Capacity - German Engineered Paper Cutter by Karla Richter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good build, a few flaws.

Having used the Xacto Ball Cutter for many years on various projects I was hoping it would get a little better. Instead, I've encountered a few compromises. First end the edges I lay the paper on to make the right angle cuts about an inch from the cut edge. This gives thin strips of paper the ability to "flex" under the force of the blade and is of limited use on short pieces. bulky and moves on a translucent guide/track. This means I can't easily press this strip to hold the paper in place (sometimes necessary with tighter pieces). None of these defects were present on my old Xacto cutter. On the plus side, it's well made with a painted steel worktop, large 18-inch work, smooth blade movement with a larger cutting disc than the Xacto. A bonus is the replaceable cutting wheel, and the translucent guide/guard is easy to (temporarily) remove. While I'm disappointed that this cutter shed a few boxes covered by its cheaper predecessor, it's well-built hardware that works well and should last a long time.
