This block works well and is quite light. Heats up very quickly and evenly. I set the device to the highest temperature, warm it up and then turn it down to the lowest temperature and it's still very powerful. I'm still working on the batter and technique to make a very thin pancake. The surface is very easy to clean. The design is pretty clever as part of the top is wider than the bottom to keep the batter from dripping onto the bottom. Why did I subtract two starts? Well, a small hole on the surface due to the lack of cover. Asked for a replacement because 1) I don't want liquid to seep through the hole; 2) For the price I paid (compared to another popular $50 device), I expect a device with no flaws. I would recommend this product despite the hassle of replacing it.
