Old Dogs New Tricks

I grew up sharpening my knives at the bottom of a ceramic bowl and have done so for at least 60 years. Everyone thought that was the funniest. Mind you, they brought me their knives to sharpen, and whenever I went somewhere and cooked a new one, I took my own knives with me. As it turned out recently, I needed to sharpen a two-bladed hatchet and ax. I suspect it might be a bowl, but I settled on a file and stone. I used this on an ax and it worked great. But my knives! I can cut jalapenos and onions so thin you can read a newspaper in them. Great stone, I like the nylon case. If I had known I would like the stone so much, I would have bought a leather case!

Pros
  • DUAL GRIT: The rough side of this combination stone is used for quickly sharpening heavily worn, jagged or very dull edges. The thin side is for touching up or trimming the edge. Help keep it sharp while burning wood or camping.
Cons
  • Some mistakes
