Yes, too thin; yes, it's low alcohol; yes, it lacks depth and character; BUT YOU, the brewer, are responsible for that. This is an excellent set, it makes a decent respectable carrier; However, this is a GREAT set for those keen to add their own style. I made four batches of this kit with a variety of ingredients; triple hopping with three different hop varieties; adding fruits to primary and secondary; and as a result I had four exceptional brews. First time it was my first batch of home made beer and it was great. From the beginning I added my own style and everyone who tried my drinks liked them. Do a little research; learn about secondary fermentation; learn about jumping; and then make YOUR drink, don't just start with a basic set and complain that it's easy!
