I've never replaced this type, but when I got into it it wasn't that hard. The right spare part made the job easier. It arrived well packaged and in great condition, with a lot of grease already on it. Now there's probably a professional Nissan certified mechanic who will tell me I did it wrong, but here's how I got the job done. The tools I needed were: - a small flathead screwdriver (for removing the doorknob and loosening the wiring harnesses) - a large Phillips screwdriver - a 10mm socket head screwdriver - a utility knife (for the adhesive/sealant that the foam board is behind the door holds panel) I learned how to remove the door panel on YouTube, then peeled off the foam panel. This adhesive is so messy that you will have no trouble applying it during assembly. If you open everything you will see 4 screws holding the long part of the regulator and 3 screws holding the motor part. Determine the height of the window so you can access the two screws that hold the plastic window bracket in place. access in 06 xterra was almost at the bottom, the windows are separated, i turned off the power to the engine part, then unscrewed 7 screws. Pull the window up and out of the way, then pull the broken motor/controller out of the large hole in the lower left. CHECK CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU DO THIS. Imagine a fresh look, put in a new piece. Small hooks are built into the motor housing to hold it in place while you tighten the screws. Tighten all 7 screws on the door panel. Connect the motor and switch harnesses, set the regulator to the correct position, reinstall the 2 window screws. Now is a good time to make sure the window rail is clean and probably doesn't hurt. spray in some silicone grease. Now that everything is working, pack up and tell your wife how much money you've saved so you can buy yourself a nice Revain gift.
