Review on Kingston DataTraveler SE9 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive for Reliable Data Storage (DTSE9H/32GBZ) by Ronald Wheeler

The perfect combination of form and function

I needed a USB stick on my keychain. I bought 6 different ones (some from Revain and some from Staples). This one is my favourite. The metal body feels strong yet lightweight. And it easily fits on any keychain. This is about 80% the size of a standard house key (see my photo I've added). In addition, it looks very good. Looks great on a keychain; looks great when connected to any computer. Hard drive read/write speeds are a little slow, but reasonable. I measured the transfer times for some files on my computer (Dell Optiplex 380):* The average read speed was 16.1 MB/s (from 10 MB/s to 18 MB/s).* The average write speed was 6.8 MB /s . (in the range of 4MB/s to 11MB/s). In general, larger files take longer to transfer than smaller files (moving a 300MB file takes longer than moving a hundred 3MB files). Other users of the same device have reported average read speeds of 17-18MB/s and write speeds of 11-12MB/s. This is considered the AVERAGE speed for flash drives. If speed is important, look for a high-speed drive that can read/write at 30MB/s or faster. If you mainly transfer documents, photos and other small files, this speed should be enough. Another minor complaint. I don't feel any "click" when the disc is fully inserted. So I just press until it can't get in, or when I see the computer has recognized the drive. A minor annoyance for an otherwise excellent USB drive. I highly recommend this drive. While the speed of this device isn't top notch, its performance is solid and comes in a great little package.

Cons
