Review on πŸ•³οΈ Retro Hole Puncher by Kelly Caballes

Revainrating 1 out of 5

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY.

I purchased this product in January 2015. Until yesterday I would have given it a five star rating, but yesterday the smaller pin (1.5mm) inside the component broke, necessitating the purchase of a brand new damper. (If the needle broke off and didn't get stuck, I could save $3 and just order a replacement needle.) You'd be thinking, well, she's been on this thing for 2+ years, what's she complaining about? My (admittedly rather mild) disappointment is that I have NEVER used it on anything heavier than a 24 - as the packaging says - and I use it minimally. Seriously, maybe a few times a month. Even though it's over two years old and I paid less than $15 for it, I still feel like it should be durable enough to withstand the kind of use I've put it through. This is not a "disposable" device. At least I didn't think so. Anyway, it's convenient and I'll order again. I couldn't take better care of it so I just plan on buying a new one every few years. It's just a little frustrating. UPDATE: It has now been four months since purchase and three months since the return date. Unfortunately it broke (AGAIN!). I haven't burdened or overloaded it unnecessarily - I use it up to once or twice a week for about half a dozen projects at a time. (NEVER use it on anything other than Sterling and 14K GF or over 26 gauge sheet. I would consider it light use.) Don't waste your money. Both times it broke off at the tip of the screw leaving the punch stuck in the tool.

Pros
  • PERFECT HOLE: Use the hole punch tool to drill a perfect hole without deforming the material.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
