I had no problem with it fitting properly in my jug. I cleaned and dried the pitcher thoroughly, installed the filter (after soaking the new one in a glass of water for ten minutes), then poured tap water into the tank. There was no water dripping from the filter. No one. That being said, it filters a lot faster than a well-known brand, I'm guessing because they're an inch shorter and probably contain less filter material. There are no laboratory certificates or claims of effectiveness on the packaging or on the packaging, however I could not detect any "disgusting" aftertaste in the filtered water. When this filter takes significantly longer, I know it's removing contaminants and that's also a signal that it's time to replace it.
