Review on πŸš— 2007-2011 Jeep Wrangler 3.8L V6 K&N Cold Air Intake Kit: High Performance, Increased Horsepower, 77-1553KP by Mike Pfettscher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

City and highway drivers benefit the most from this air intake system.

Should I Buy Air Intake For Jeep JK? As always, it depends. I hate when marketing materials say "10 more horsepower" because it doesn't reflect what you will experience as a driver. Consider the K&N dyno tables 57-1553 for a 2007-2011 3.8L JK in three uses: 1) city, 2) hill towing, 3) crawling/off-road. (See performance charts for this product on manufacturer's website).1) City (at 2350 rpm): The performance chart starts at 2350 rpm. Power: 52 hp (stock) vs 71 hp Torque increase: 118 ft-lbs (stock) vs 160 ft-lbs (intake) -> 37.9% increase That's huge. ________________________________________________________________ _______2) Pulling uphill (at 3500 rpm): Power: 119 hp (stock) vs 121 hp (aspirated) --> 1.7% increase Torque: 177 ft-lb (stock) vs 179 ft-lb (Intake) --> 1.1% increase Let's face it, you don't notice 1-2% increases. (series) vs. 153 hp (with intake) --> increase by 5.5% increase Eh. maybe a little flashy, but every little thing counts when you're trying to break out of a stuck spot. ____________________________________ _______ City and highway drivers benefit the most from the cold air intake. Don't buy one if you're hoping it'll help you lug easier through the Rocky Mountains.
