I have an 88 pound Collie and he is trained to be my companion dog. I was looking for a good "off duty" leash that would allow good control of the dog but also allow for "free sniffing time". The extra 2 feet made a difference. He can walk a bit more, so now he knows the difference between when he's working and when he's not. The slickness of the leash won't stick to fur and the thickness of the handles ensure a good grip. The position of the second handle and its thickness allow me to control it when needed. I only gave four stars for durability because I had to return my first one - the clip "button" broke off less than a month after purchase but it was replaced quickly and I didn't have to send it back in the first place. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM!
