Review on Presto Electric Tilt-N-Fold Griddle, 19-inch, Black: Boost Your Cooking Experience by Dustin Citizen

Adequate but poorly designed

I particularly wanted this pan for its foldable legs and slim profile for easy storage. It's very well hidden, pressed against the inner wall of my closet. Unfortunately, his cooking skills are less than desirable. As noted by many other reviews, it heats up unevenly. If you want evenly browned pancakes, you'll have to pay more for a taller pan with a thicker profile. Due to the slim profile, the underside also radiates a lot of heat. You will need a silicone mat or other protective surface under this pan to protect the countertop. The foldable legs are handy for storage, but they are of poor quality and not exactly stable when laid out for cooking. The tilt function, as well as the drain hole and fat drain pan, are useful for frying hamburgers or bacon, but give the pan a defined front and back: fat drains to the front, and the power cord tucks neatly into the back. This is important because the temperature gauge, which shows when the pan has reached cooking temperature, is only visible from the back. You can turn the pan over and drain the grease from the back (where it would be difficult to reach and remove the pan), but the power cord is so short it doesn't reach the front. Instead, I have to keep my hand on the temperature dial to see if the indicator light bounces off my fingers to tell if the pan is heating up. This pan can cook delicious food, but due to design flaws, you will most likely want to replace it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not everything fits
