I have previously purchased a WizGear car mount which didn't retract like that and it worked pretty well except it stopped air from coming in through the vents to get. when my iPhone 7 Plus was connected. I decided to try this model with a swivel head that pops out a bit and placed it on the passenger side air vent. A swivel head allows me to turn my phone towards me for a better view. Note, however, that the swivel may loosen after a few uses, but it can easily be tightened again simply by turning the nut just behind the magnet. And if I have passengers who get too hot, they can roll down the window. Ha ha ha, I don't have a problem with magnets affecting my phone either. I put flat magnets in the phone case and they stick to the car magnets very well.
